this great day

***disclaimer***
We are sort of political junkies and happy about who was elected president. Count yourself forewarned!

Today turned into a beautiful day appreciating democracy in these great United States. After breakfast we watched Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream Speech." My hubby used to be a high school social studies teacher so he gave us his analysis. We both agreed even though we've seen the speech more times than we can count it never gets old.

Then we moved into the family room to watch the inauguration. We took in all the pomp and circumstance and all the speeches and songs. No surprise, the songs always make me cry. Beyonce was amazing!

Cheers to a peaceful transfer of power and prayers to those countries who are in turmoil and war.

  2. We watched it all here, too. George was upset that he couldn't watch; he never gets to, though. He always has to work.

I told Julia about how she was only a month and a half old last time, and how we were at my parents' house in Cape Cod and she & I sat on the couch all morning watching it all, and how right after he took the oath I said, "President Barack Obama..." and she gave me a huge little one-month-old grin. Asher asked where he was and was very sad to hear he hadn't been born yet!

Yesterday was just wonderful, again. I'm glad you and yours enjoyed it too. xo

  3. I too, am always surprised that I never get sick of the " I have a dream" speech. The current played it yesterday, and there is something about his voice and the message together. Goosebumps. I too, am happy about who was elected President :)
