leaning into 2013

There was this beautiful, older woman who worked at the college I attended. She lived by a river. They used solar power and baked bread. She brought her own towel to dry her hands as to not use the hand driers. She and her equally beautiful husband lived so lightly on the earth with such great intention and thoughtfulness. I remember asking her, "How do you do all this?!" and she answered in her quiet, wise way,  "It didn't happen over night. We made small changes and then it becomes your life."

So in 2013 I hope to lean into some good habits.

take more pictures with the good camera (see above)
knit more
write more
live with integrity and honesty more
make more music
be outside more
eat more fruits and vegetables
love more

What do you want to lean into in 2013?

  1. lovely resolutions
I love this time of year where we get to step back and look at our lives in a meaningful way.
I'm planning on setting small but attainable goals:
    -more crafting and art
    -more reading
-less screen time for the whole family
    -more outdoor time
-a stronger focus on faith, spirituality and mental health.

  3. I love this idea, that woman sounds cool. I wanted to wait to respond until I had my own list but I can't put any thoughts into coherent sentences at the moment. Hopefully soon though.

  4. this year I really want to emphasize for my friends how much they mean to me. i don't think i let them know enough just how glad i am that they are in my life. i'm planning to make an extra effort to remember birthdays and to send little reminders through the year that i'd be lost without these special people.
