(photo from the horrible gopher game we went to yesterday. maybe next year they'll be better. i think they just need striped pants like indiana's then they might be better.)
Some folks have asked a few question about the Run Less, Run Faster training program. I had read about it a while back in Runner's World and it seemed like it would be a good fit for me. I got a stress fracture in the fall of 2010 which forced me to re-evaluate my running. Running less seemed easier on my body.
The program is intense and demands a good base of running prior to starting, but I like it cause each run has a purpose. My whole life I've been turtle- I can do anything in 10 minute mile. This is forcing me to run faster and the challenge is keeping my morning runs fresh and fun.
This week I'm on Week 14 of the half marathon training schedule.
Tuesday:
10 minute warm-up
5 x 800- 8:36 mile/ pace (400 m rest interval)
10 minute cool down
Thurs:
1 mile easy
3 miles (9:14) @ short temps pace
1 mile easy
Saturday:
8 miles easy
I miss Hal, but it's been nice to change it up!
I'm a slow runner too! :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Sarah! I can't wait for cleaner streets so I can really run!
ReplyDeleteHi! I just wanted to pop in and say hello :) I'm a fellow MN blogger. I got a little excited when I found you through Marilyn's blog.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good to run. I was a runner in high school but can't do it to save my life today!
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on your blog and watching FOODMATTERS (next: Forks Over Knives). Why have I dragged my feet on this? I'm getting lazy and this is the wake-up call I've needed. Thanks for being such a wonderful disseminator of pertinent information - and a joy to read!
I know your post is dated but I came across it and it fits me perfectly!
